Here are some tips if you want to try and clean your tile and grout yourself:
Tile Cleaning Huntington Beach Tips For Squeaky Clean Surfaces
Tiling is a great flooring surface and also a good choice for walls in the bathroom and kitchen. People put up back splashes and use tile in other areas as well for decorative purposes. There are all different types of tiling, so cleaning solutions can vary. Also, cleaning these surfaces are one thing, but getting down there and really cleaning the grout is a different story.
There are some things you should know when cleaning these surfaces yourself so you clean everything properly. For instance, you never use a brush that has metal bristles because it’s going to leave scratches and the bristles can get trapped in the surface and rust. It may seem like some stains or marks are hard to get off once they set in, but there are ways to get them off without scratching the surface.
Try to Stick With Natural Products
While there are great cleaning products available at stores, there are also natural solutions you can use to keep many of your surfaces clean. One of them is a vinegar solution. Mixing vinegar and hot water – along with elbow grease – can clean almost any surface.
If you are dealing with stains, another cleaning solution you can use is a mixture of regular dish soap and hydrogen peroxide. Both of these are cheap and probably products you have in your home already. If you’re thinking about using bleach, think again. While it may seem like a great cleaning solution, and it can be diluted, bleach can sometimes alter the color of the grout and possibly the tile, too.
You can also use a baking soda and water solution, and the idea is to get this cleaning agent to have a toothpaste like texture. If you have stone or granite tiling, then you need to be sure you don’t use any over-the-counter cleaning products that contain harsh chemicals.
Vinegar was mentioned earlier as a solution, and if you use vinegar, you want to mix it with water. As you can see, all of the mentioned solutions are natural and aren’t abrasive, yet can clean thoroughly. And you can use a scrub brush, but again, you don’t want to use one with the metal bristles.
One brush you can use is an old toothbrush for any grouted areas. It’s not going to be the easiest thing you’ve done and it is going to feel like it takes forever, but it is very effective for cleaning in between the surfaces of your floors, counter tops and back splashes.
